Transitions + Empowerment = You’ve got this
Hey you,
I am an Empowerment coach. I’m also a Life Transitions coach. I see transitions and empowerment as two things that need each other. If you are going through any kind of transition – chosen or hoisted upon you – I believe that discovering, exploring, and making choices from your personal power is the key to navigating that transition with strength and grace and an eye on the opportunity inside a transition.
It can be empowering to recognize that you are inside a transition. Once you can name that – well before you understand what that transition means or what it will create for you – you can create some oxygen between you and the experience. Oxygen that can help you begin to get perspective, and begin to have some kindness toward yourself. Because transitions are messy at best, and incredibly life disruptive at worst.
I feel like we are collectively in a transition, deciding who we want to be as a country and how we individually will influence that. And that great big (possibly years-long) transition is living alongside all the personal transitions is yours and my life. Perimenopause anyone? Career shifts? Losing a loved one? Navigating an illness? Even seemingly small transitions like taking up a new routine or taking a project from done to sharing it with others can create big life shifts. Some that feel good, some that don’t.
Some transitions can leave us feeling like a victim to what is happening to us. An unexpected layoff, a sudden injury, a betrayal, a breakup. Many things create a transition that’s not of our choosing. Recognizing that we have the power to make choices even when we have not chosen the transition is huge in finding your way forward at a difficult time.
We always have the power of choice. We get to choose how we respond to situations. We get to choose if we will be hard on ourselves or gentle. We get to choose who we will ask for help. We get to choose what story we are making of the thing happening to us.
Are you navigating a transition right now? I’m sending you big love and strength for that journey, whatever that transition looks like. You are more powerful than you may realize.

P.S. Some transitions are delightful. I’ve started a collaboration with Forum. Forum’s mission is to help people overcome life’s greatest challenges through the power of peer support in accessible, affordable ways. The first group I’m launching is all about supporting women in midlife who want to express themselves through creative writing. We are going to cover things like creating your own definitions of success, overcoming imposter syndrome, tackling the inner critic, and more so that you can find your joy in writing and that joy can fuel everything that’s going on in your life.
