Are you familiar yet with the idea of GLIMMERS? Glimmers are instant JOY portals, the opposite of triggers. If a trigger is something that sets you off, zinging you to a dark place, a glimmer zings you to a place of joy, or calm, or peace, or bliss, or a simple deep, good feeling.
For me, certain colors, sights, or smells create reliable glimmers. Anything in the brick-red to glowy autumnal-orange hues zing me to greater heights. Currently the sight of urban palms against bright blue skies or casting shawdows on cracked sidewalk calls to me. And the smell of good coffee is a perpetual glimmer-maker for me.
Did you know you can actually train your brain to find more glimmers in life? Brains are amazing. They can take something as boring as a habit and pump it full of the life juice you crave.
Like practical How-Tos?
First notice what zings you to joy.
Pause and take it in.
Let the good of it aaaaalllllll the way in. Into your body, your heart, your mind, your soul, your day.
Repeat.
Your brain will thank you with by noticing the next glimmer. And the next. And the next. And by noticing and letting the good aaaaallllll the way in over and over, the way you experience your own day-to-day life will change. I’m not saying #glimmers are the answer to all that is not working in life. But I am saying it’s a completely free, continuously available resource for everyone, and you deserve to feel the good that is already present in your life.
