It doesn’t have to be complicated to be powerful
Life is super challenging on a normal day, living in the mix of work, parenting, partnering, creative projects that give me life, and then everything else. We are not living in normal times though. So I’m not going to consciously or unconsciously make life harder for myself this year. I’m gonna keep it simple, with a simple directive of my choosing: Choose Love.
When I wake up, choose love. When I get overwhelmed, choose love. When I have to make a decision, choose love.
Choosing love doesn’t mean always putting someone else first. It does mean that sometimes. But sometimes it means prioritize my art. Or prioritize my health. Or prioritize my joy.
To me it’s a way to calm the chaos and get clear on the next right thing. It’s my operating instructions for this chapter of life.
If you are feeling the overwhelm right now I invite you to choose a simple operating instruction that you want to live by this week, this month, this year. What makes sense for you? What creates instant clarity for you? What feels energizing or grounding or life-giving for you?
It’s also how I continue to make progress on the projects that are important to me. Don’t feel like sitting down to write today? Choose love. Most days that translates to me sitting down to write because that is what feels like the loving thing to do, particularly after I’m reminded that making art is a choice, not a to-do.
Let’s be calm ports in the storm together,
Christin
P.S. Are we connected on social media? My whole ambition for being on social media is to be a force for good, not overwhelm, and I’d love to connect with you on Facebook, Instagram or LinkedIn.
